Creating Chetna’ on safe motherhood

Good Evening friends,

I am going to matar as tomorrow is second Sunday of April. Manav Parivar is going to organizer their roution medical camp and I am going to give my free service over there. I read something interesting on times of india website. I like to share that news with you all. CHETNA, a ahmedabad base NGO is taking action towards safe motherhood.

More than 60% of pregnant women in Gujarat between 15 and 49 years are anaemic. Highlighting the barriers in maternal health in state and country, centre for health education, training and nutrition awareness (CHETNA), a non-government organisation based in Ahmedabad conducted a study and has listed lack of transport for medical access, high medical cost and other socio-cultural factors resulting into the poor state of maternal health.

This was done in relation with safe motherhood initiative, a world-wide effort that aims to reduce the number of deaths and illnesses associated with pregnancy and childbirth.

Founder director of CHETNA, Indu Capoor says, “More than 60 per cent of maternal deaths take place immediately after the delivery, with more than half occurring within a day. Every minute, a woman dies as a result of pregnancy or childbirth.”

On achieving safe motherhood, Capoor says, “Safe motherhood can be achieved by providing high-quality maternal health services to all women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

“Care by skilled health personnel before, during, and after childbirth, emergency care for life-threatening obstetric complications, services to prevent and manage complications of unsafe abortion and family planning are some among others,” she said.

Volunteering for Pilgrims

Good Evening friends,

Time is running out so fast. If I go to past I am having a feeling that 2009 just started. Today we are already in third month. I am going for volunteering again. There are two missions. One as this Sunday is second Sunday of month; manav parivar is having free medical camp at matar, kheda, Gujarat. This is their routine activity and they are organizing it regular basis.

The second event is Holy Poonam Free food for pilgrims. On this full moon day, around a million pilgrims are going to Dakor a temple of Shree Ranchod Rai Bhagavan. If we talk with reference to Ahmedabad-Dakor, than it’s around 75 km from ahmedabad. Manav parivar is having its free food for pilgrims at Kanij, which is around 30 km away from ahmedabad. Manav Parivar kitchen starts on 11th day of full moon days and it last till full moonday that is 15th day.

I am going tomorrow morning to have the banner for the same event on the site and other preprations. I will talk on this in next post and try to come up with pictures too.

is this volunteering?

Good Morning friends,

How you define volunteering? Majority of people might come up with answer that when we help someone physically than it is going to consider volunteering. I do agree with this meaning of volunteering.

I like to share this live event which happens between me and my friend. It was Thursday evening.  I come to know on Wednesday that one of my friends who face a big loss in stock market is mentally disturb and he is under depression. I decided to spend my Thursday evening with him. I finish my work at office early and I went to him. When I see him I found him like a live dead body. He was not react my presence. I talk with him and he was not replying nor expressing any expresson with my talk to him. I thought and tell my self that time this is the time when he needs me more. I must stay with him.

I started talking with him with he being non responsive. In an  hour he started giving me response. It takes me 4 hour to bring him back to normal mind condition but thank god I was able to do that. It really long story what I talk and how I talk. At end he was ok and normal. Than I say good night to him and back home. When I was in bed I was thinking what we should call to what I did?

A human was in need of another human- a human spend time with another human with positive thought in mind, isn’t its Volunteering? I like to ask my reads too, what you call the thing I did. Does it volunteering or charity?
